Zoe Receives Over £70,000 Compensation Following Road Traffic Accident

In November 2011 Zoe was involved in a road traffic accident. The driver of another vehicle did a sudden U-turn which caused Zoe to collide with the vehicle. It was a low speed shunt but Zoe was immediately aware of some pain from her seat belt and in her lower back. She contacted Jill Barratt a week after the accident and it looked as if this was a case where compensation would be limited although it was very early days. A claim was submitted through the Portal, as a low value road traffic accident claim at the beginning of January 2012. Within days liability was admitted.

Unfortunately for Zoe her progress was not as she would have hoped. By February 2013 she had still not been able to return to work and was suffering from restrictive symptoms from her injuries. She had had problems prior to the accident but the accident exacerbated those difficulties to an extent that it was greatly affecting her lifestyle.

When this case first started it was anticipated that the compensation would be very modest and probably no more than £2000. In the event compensation of over £70,000 was paid. Zoe described herself as being “absolutely stunned by this”.

Jill has retired but our Personal Injury team is still working with clients who have been involved in road traffic accidents.
