Physical & Psychological Injuries Compensation
Natalie suffered both physical and psychological injuries as a result of a road traffic accident on the M62. We successfully recovered compensation on Natalie’s behalf.
In December 2010 Natalie was driving along the M62 in the centre lane. The driver of a lorry moved from the nearside lane towards the middle lane colliding with the rear nearside of Natalie’s vehicle. The impact meant that her vehicle spun in front of the lorry. The lorry shunted her car backwards down the motorway some distance. Then it skidded at speed towards the hard shoulder and hit the central barrier. The car rebounded and came to a stop facing oncoming traffic on the hard shoulder. This was a terrifying experience.
The driver of the vehicle was Latvian and he was driving under Latvian Insurance. Jill Barratt did a search on the Motor Insurers Bureau website. Here she located details of the UK Handling agents for the Latvian insurance company. They admitted liability for the accident.
Recovering from physical & psychological injuries
Natalie fortunately did not suffer serious injury. She had sprain injuries to her right ankle and both wrists, whiplash injury to her neck and upper back and back pain. She also experienced psychological disturbance as a direct result of the accident. Natalie found it hard to carry on all her sporting activities and social activities because she had to travel by car to reach them.
She underwent osteopathic treatment and gradually her symptoms improved. A year after the accident she still suffered some aches at the top of her back and shoulders after a working week (as a PE teacher). She also experienced occasional pain after playing tennis and other sport. We claimed the cost of a one day driving course to build up her confidence following the accident and a motorway driving lesson. Within a year from the accident she felt that she was still not 100% confident. However, she felt sure that this would improve. Natalie was very pleased with the overall award of £6700.
Clients often say that our understanding approach makes a huge difference when they make a claim for personal injuries. We listen carefully and help them claim for the treatments and support that are most important to them.
